Astral Weeks Revisited

Astral Weeks

Jay Berliner and Tony Fitzgibbon join Van to relive Astral Weeks

2018 is the year that the iconic Astral Weeks album celebrates it’s 50th year since release in 1968. Considered by many as unique example of Morrison’s artistic genius, and one of his finest works, the album also enjoys critical acclaim earning a rightful place in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

This week saw music legends Jay Berliner and Tony Fitzgibbon joined with Van and his band for two magical shows paying homage to the influential record.

The trio joined forces for performances at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod and Feis Liverpool on 6th and 7th July 2018. Set lists included many of the original album tracks, interspersed with songs spanning Morrison’s catalogue including ‘One Irish Rover’, ‘Broken Record’, and ‘Moondance’ amongst others.

The first show saw Van return to the stage with the band to play ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ as an encore to a rapturous crowd. The same tune was welcomed with equal enthusiasm by the Liverpool audience the following evening.
